How to Choose a Christening Gown

A special event is picking out your baby’s christening dress or gown. Some families may have an heirloom dress that is worn on this particular day. Others might see it as the ideal chance to begin a new family tradition.

A traditional gown for a christening typically measures 28 to 36 inches in length. Unlike christening dresses, which are often shorter only reaching the ankles or mid-calf. Gowns are more suited for younger children because a toddler wouldn’t be able to walk about comfortably in them.

Boys and girls both wore gowns in the past. It would be a good idea to select a straightforward unisex gown if you intend to pass the gown down to future generations.

Think about the material your dress or gown is composed of. The greatest material to use on a child’s skin is a natural fibre like cotton, silk, or linen. If you live in a warmer climate, you might want to think about wearing short sleeves or, if it’s colder, a good blanket.
