The modern world and popular culture put a lot of pressure on how people should dress or look. It can be easy to get caught up in ‘what’s in’ even if it doesn’t align with your values. In the Bible, clothing was initially created so as to cover human nakedness after the fall of Adam and Eve in Genesis but also is a way to protect us from the elements. “Fashion” has developed over time as different cultures created different textures, colours and styles of clothing.

Later in the Bible, in First Timothy and Proverbs, it mentions that women should dress modestly so as not to advertise ourselves as sex objects or to inspire lust. So as Christians, fashion should never become more important that dressing in a way that would honour God. That does not mean that Christians cannot dress in a fashionable way or where clothing that complements their body. It simply means Christians should not dress to be sexy or provocative.
